Hello racers! Just a quick update on the latest happenings from our end. I hope the work on your race cars is coming along well as we prepare for what really does look to be a great 2017 season at Merritt Speedway.
No snow here in Grand Rapids, but there is definitely some still at the speedway. The forecast shows 50’s this coming weekend which will be great! Hopefully that helps us get the grandstand building project underway sooner than later, so we can have them up in time for opening night. As of today, there isn’t one single bleacher sit on the front stretch at Merritt.
As you probably know if you are reading this, that we partnered with Mt Pleasant Speedway more for the upcoming season. A key area, is the alignment of rules for a couple divisions, including safety implementations for our UMP Late Models, as well as unified B-Modified/Michigan Sport Modified rules. This has taken longer than we wanted but we’ll have the Michigan Sport Modified rules posted online no later than tomorrow, Tues., Feb 14 at the end of the day. All rule questions should be directed to Josh Harrington at 989-745-2648.
Just a reminder that on Saturday, March 11, we will be having our Meet and Greet at The Pines Sports Bar and Bowling Center in Cadillac. Driver registration, pit stall renewals, etc. will be available as well as our usual door prizes and raffle giveaways.
Kevin is in the final stages of designing and having our 2017 pocket schedules printed up for distribution. We are also slowly beginning our review for race-day staff needs both on the racing and fan sides. If you have interest in working at Merritt Speedway, please send your Resume or inquiry to email@example.com. No phone calls please.
Lastly, we are proud to have eclipsed the 20,000 Like mark on Facebook. All kidding aside, Merritt truly does have the best damn supporters in Michigan. And for those following the page that aren’t fans, are just watching and learning from what we have been doing. Are we perfect? Far, far from it. But the hard work that is dedicated to this speedway to make everyone’s experience as enjoyable and smooth as possible is hopefully evident by the product we present across all aspects of the speedway. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
