As most of you know, we hosted the Indian Summer Special this past Saturday afternoon! It was a picture-perfect day to say the least, hitting 75 degrees and mostly sunny skies.
A solid 97 race cars filled the pits for the bonus special event, and I first would like to thank each of you that showed to race at Merritt. I feel the neatest part of the whole thing was how many competitors showed up to race with us, for the very first ever time at Merritt Speedway. 99.9% of folks I encountered during the event and following the races at the payout window, expressed their gratitude for the event and said that they look forward to coming back in 2018. The success of that race should lend it to being a new tradition for Merritt as we move into the future.
Congratulations to Eric Spangler, Chad Bauer, Scott Payton, Dan Lautner, Bobby McQueen, Don Sevenski, Dylan Vermilyea, Dakota Bennix, David Mielke and Doug Roush for all getting victories and entertaining the fans in attendance (Full results here). It was neat to see many familiar faces in the grandstands from Berlin Raceway, checking out Merritt - want to thank you guys for coming up!
The final item of 2017 for Merritt Speedway is our annual awards banquet. More than 300 people have purchased tickets for the event which will be held at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, on Saturday, November 11. If you have not yet ordered your tickets, you have through this week to still join us (Click HERE to order online), before we have to turn in final numbers. Doors will open at 5pm, with dinner at 6 and awards at 7. Live entertainment will be part of the evening as dinner concludes, as well as multiple high energy highlight videos, recognition of champions, special awards and much more. If you have not been to a Merritt banquet in the last 2 years, we’d love to host you this year.
I would like to offer my sincerest thanks to all the Merritt staff, sponsors, drivers, crew, fans and friends who have supported the race track this season. Needless to say that without you, none of this would be possible. I hope to see you all at the banquet!
